The Artist
American artist Loalynda Bird is known for creating designs with fun costumes and sparkle, combining positive and whimsical messages with new and inventive characters. She grew up in a house filled with creativity, laughter, music and love and began drawing constantly as a little girl. Her godfather would sit and play drawing games with her and her Great Uncle Gilman Low was a prominent artist during the early 1920s whose paintings graced the walls of her childhood home, and provided early inspiration.

Early in Loalynda’s career, she went to London and Paris to study hair design, returning to work as a hair and makeup artist creating looks for fashion shows, television, movies, music videos and print media. But her love of art and her penchant for drawing drew her back to illustrating and mixed media design.   She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.

“Being an artist is something I am, not something I do. When I'm creating, it comes from my heart's desire to always reflect beauty and light out into this world.” - Loalynda
Loalynda's "If the Show Fits" collection, as the name implies, is for those who fit into the shoes... whether you have danced, are dancing, or just love to dream!

From little girls in pink, to the right of passage onto Pointe, to the beautiful expression of contemporary dance, no other art form demands so much from an artist. They bare their souls and use their entire bodies, infused with their own personas, creativity, discipline and determination. They give everything possible.

When examining these beautiful designs, you will find hearts, stars and musical notes sprinkled into the illustrations. They represent the heart that it takes, the music that moves a dancer's soul and the bright shining light they reflect out into our world when they perform. Butterflies appear, representing the metamorphosis taking place when we dance, and iridescent bubbles so perfect, and so fragile, float on air like dreams floating in our hearts' desires.

In her latest collection, Loalynda has captured not only the art of dance, but the positive, spiritual effect it offers for both the participant, and the observer.
